Aug 24, 2022 - PRESS RELEASE

Arkema, a global leader in specialty materials for paints and coatings, recently introduced SYNAQUA® 9511 new performance waterborne binder for use in formulating industrial paints with reduced VOC levels (<150 g/l).

“SYNAQUA® 9511 acrylic polyol emulsion offers significantly lower VOC capabilities and performs well in 2K or 1K stoving systems. Our goal was to help industrial paint formulators more easily meet their sustainability goals by achieving lower VOC levels with a high-performance waterborne solution,” explained Claire Reynier, global marketing and business development manager for industrial coatings, Arkema Coating Solutions.

SYNAQUA® 9511 acrylic polyol emulsion is suitable for both topcoat and monocoat applications and can be applied on a very large variety of substrates, including general metal, plastic, glass, wood or concrete flooring.

It is a waterborne acrylic polyol emulsion with hydroxyl groups (3% OH) specifically designed for demanding industrial applications that have traditionally required products with significantly higher VOC levels. Coatings made with these binders can help manufacturers to meet key performance target of durability, gloss, adhesion and chemical resistance.

Specific application benefits include:

SYNAQUA® 9511 new acrylic polyol emulsion is a key addition to the market-leading range of performance waterborne and solventborne binders Arkema offers for industrial coatings, alongside a wide range of additives and monomers.

Across all of the markets Arkema serves, the company is committed to helping formulators meet their performance and sustainability goals with a market-leading portfolio of resins and additives for the key waterborne, powder, UV/LED/EB and high-solid low VOC technologies.

“Sustainability is a core component of everything we do, from research, new product development, to manufacturing, to how we ship and handle our products,” Reynier said. “We are continually looking for new ways to help our customers meet current and emerging sustainability challenges in this industry.”
